Men Only

Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,... husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies.  He who loves his wife loves himself.  After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church...For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.

Only a real man can truly love his wife the way he ought to.

I am a new husband of almost seven months now.  I say I love my wife, and I show it by bringing her flowers, chocolates, spending time with her doing some of the things she likes doing.  I work around the house (I probably could do more),  I'm careful with finances and I love God and the children from a pure heart.  These are just some of the things that I do to show my love for Shelley.

I'm not perfect and sometimes I have to check my motivation to make sure what I'm doing is from a pure motive, from the heart.

Today I really just want to tell other men (myself included), that we can always do more, be more honest and sincere in our interactions with our wives, our daughters, or single men with your girlfriends.

I want us to not be door mats, or spineless milquetoasts.  I want the men who read this blog to be real men.  As one writer put it, men are not to be women with different genitals.

Men lets be providers, protectors, teachers to our boys and girls, and true romantics with our wives.

Lets not shy away from standing for what is right and of a high moral standard in a public form.  Men lets be motivated to be men of integrity, drive, passion, with vision.  Lets seek to do the best for our wives and in so doing reap the rewards of truly loving them the way Scripture tells us to.

After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church...
